There may be no more unfairly stereotyped musician than
the bassist. He's the martyr, the long-suffering responsible guy,
a team player who's on the back line, connecting the drummer to the rest of the band, far from the blue light and ready acknowledgment of the crowd.
Nine times out of ten, he's the guy that makes the gear work in any situation, has the best ears for tuning, brings more people to the gig and is the most level-headed about the ups and downs that are
part of any musical experience.
But he's so much more than that. He's the driving force that's just so much more meaningful than any flashy lead. Because bass is many things, but it's almost always accessible, melodic, and primal.
