Hey RedHeds!
Did you miss us? I know its been a while, but we've been working hard at the Salt Palace and in the studio writing, recording and practicing a whole bunch of new originals and cover songs!! So it won't be long before Red Seven will be back on tour in Dave's cool new R7B van with a whole new show!
Sooooooo, let's see what's been happening shall we?
NEWS:
o Check one, check two ... We recently spent a day at Paragon Studios in Chicago laying down six songs for our upcoming CD. Paragon's a very cool studio in the heart of Chicago's meat packing district (you know, when you say it like that it sounds kind of gross). You can check out a few photos from the sessions at www.myspace.com/red7fansThe band cut some killer tracks at Paragon and we're headed over to the studio of the infamous Dave Uhrich at the end of this month to lay down some more. With any luck, we'll have the next CD done by early Fall!
o Red Seven at SXSW ... What, R7B played at the venerable South By Southwest festival in Austin, TX??? Well, not exactly. But our friends at Breakthrough Audio here in Chicago included our song "Everytime" on a compilation disc they gave away to 10,000 people at the SXSW show! Keep your fingers crossed that one of those 10,000 people will help catapult Red Seven to the top of the charts!! We have a few copies of the compilation disc to give away, so if you'd like one just shoot us an e-mail with your address and we'll get one in the mail to you.
o And we have a winner! ... So who knows more about Red Seven (and Monty Python) than anyone else? That honor goes to Mr. Keith Hoaglund who won our 2007 Red Seven Trivia Contest (narrowly defeating Darin Blackwell in the process). Congratulations, Keith - you are now the proud owner of a new iPod Nano courtesy of Red Seven!!! (see, all of you who didn't participate 'cause you thought we were joking about the cool prize - sorry now aren't you? )
o Which brings us to ... the next contest! Those of you who read the last edition of the R7B Newsletter may recall we mentioned a cool new contest that would let you be part of the band. Cue the trumpets and the drum roll as we unveil ... The R7B 2008 CD Cover Art Contest!
That's right RedHeds - we're giving you, our biggest fans, a chance to help us create the cover art for our next CD. How cool is that?!? So get out your cameras, paints, crayons, etch-a-sketch or whatever you want to use to capture that "image" that screams Red Seven and e-mail it to us at: contactredseven@yahoo.com
We're open to absolutely anything - the more creative the better, so go crazy and send us the coolest pics, drawings, paintings you can come up with and your creation might grace the cover of the long awaited R7B CD #2! Imagine that, forever immortalized on a Red Seven CD - what could be better?
Of course, all submissions have to be original creations as we can't use something that's been copyrighted. But whether you're a budding photographer, your kid's the next Picasso or your dog has an artistic flair with poop, we want to see it (ok, if its poop we just want a picture - not the actual poop)!!
And even if your entry isn't chosen to grace the cover, there will be plenty of other pages to fill inside the CD jacket. So show us what you've got, RedHeds!
LAST Call: What newsletter would be complete without a few parting shots ...
RedHed Trivia - OK, now that we have a winner for last year's trivia contest its time to erase the slate and start anew! Remember, Keith won himself an iPod - so maybe the rest of you want to get in on the action this time?
So let's get you all going with an easy one: For ten points, "Which member of Red Seven would be a hit at a margarita party?"
Send your answers to: contactredseven@yahoo.com
